Ok, let's get started on getting your audio feedback form set up.

The first thing you need to do is decide whether or not you want to add audio to your exit window.

If you don't, that's okay. We've got a template that you can use that does not have a space for the audio.

If you want to use audio on your exit window and HAVE a way to do this yourself (eg: you already have a way to record your audio and get it to auto play from your page) then you can skip the next step.

-- HOW TO GET YOUR AUDIO RECORDED AND READY:

The system we use for the audio on our feedback form can be accessed here.

-- HOW TO RECORD THE AUDIO AND WHAT TO DO NEXT:

Since the appeal of the exit pop is that it does have audio on it that plays instantly when someone leaves the site we're going to focus first on getting your audio recorded, done and ready to add to the site.

In order to collect data via the exit pop, you need to do two things.

1) You need to create the exit pop itself.

2) You need to add some special code to your web page to make the pop appear.

When you are done adding the code to your page do NOT upload your main web page yet. Just hang onto everything until you're completely finished with these instructions.

-- WORKING WITH THE POP UP WINDOW TEMPLATES:

Included with your kit are 2 customizable templates you can use for your exit pop.

The first one is if you are going to use audio. It's called template1.html

The second one is for people who don't want audio. It's called template2.html

Those links go to .zip files that you download. When you're done, unzip the file and look for the .html page which is the template you need to edit in your favorite HTML editor.

Since we believe the template with the audio will result in more feedback being left from your visitors as they are drawn to the pop up by the sound, we're going to start with these instructions.

- HOW TO CONFIGURE THE EMAIL FORM:

Once you've edited your page and have saved it as "exitpage.html" you need to get a little bit of information from your web site host.

Just call them up or email them and ask them for your FORM MAIL information.

Tell them you need the FORM MAIL PATH.

They will know what you mean and you can ask them to email that to you or point you in the direction of where you can find that on their support pages.

For an example, here is our Form Mail path for Amazing Formula:

It is the part in bold, or as it's commonly referred to, the FORM MAIL path.

You also need to know a couple other things.

1) Where do you want the results to be emailed to?

We suggest something like support@yourcompany.com or any active email address you can use.

2) Where do you want your visitors to go AFTER they fill out the form?

Once someone fills out your form they are going to be redirected to a final web page that thanks them for taking the time to submit their feedback.

In our case study, the thank you page was the one that contained solutions to their problems.

In your case, if you're not sure, click here to save the thankyou.html page in a .zip file and upload that .html page to your server. It's a generic thank you page and you don't need to edit it.

- WHAT TO DO NEXT:

The next step is to gather your new pages (exitpage.html) and the thankyou.html page along with any images (the exitpage.html has a bg.gif image included) and upload those to your website.

Then go to your web site and access the exitpage.html and make SURE that it looks right.

Once you've tested it, your audio starts playing automatically and you have tested your feedback form a couple of times, it's okay to upload your index.html page!
