Step One: Get Some Custom Fonts! |
Problem: The pre-installed fonts on your computer are much too boring to use on your graphic header. What you need are some bold, exciting, interesting, eye popping fonts to enhance your design!
Solution: Get some custom fonts for your design!

Step Two: Where to find Free Windows Fonts |
Unless you know exactly what sites to go to, it can be a real pain to find decent "free font" sites. They're usually filled with 100's of ads, popup windows or Google links and rarely do they actually contain the fonts advertised.
Fortunately we've done all the research for you and all you need to do is go to www.abstractfonts.com where you'll find a great collection of Windows fonts!
When you're on the site, here are the steps to follow to get the fonts:
Step 2.1: When you're there, go to the SEARCH box at the top of the page and search either by font name (if you know the name of the font you want to get) or go to the CATEGORY listings, like this:
Step 2.3: When you are inside the CATEGORY listings, just go to the category of your choice and look for the fonts you want.
That takes you into the actual font category. From there just browse the list of FREE fonts that you want and when you find one you want to save just click on the font preview, like this:
Step 2.4: When you click the font preview, it asks you to download the file. So choose your DESKTOP or somwhere you can easily find the font later on and click the SAVE button, like this:
A new window will open up and it will ask what you want to do, like this:
Step 2.5: Click the SAVE button and that saves the actual .ttf font file to your computer DESKTOP.
(Next we'll cover how to install the fonts.)

Step Three: Install Your Fonts |
Step 3.1: Go to your desktop and inside the "My Web Site" folder, create a NEW folder called "Fonts".
Step 3.2: Now go back to the desktop and find the font files you downloaded.

These would be provided to you in .zip or .ttf format.
Step 3.3: If the fonts you downloaded were provided to you in .zip format, you need to right click on the .zip icon and choose "EXPLORE". That shows you the contents OF the zip file, without your having to go through the trouble of unzipping it.
Do not close the ZIP FILE PREVIEW WINDOW until you get to step 3.5. You need to keep it open until you're finished step 3.4.
Step 3.4: When you click EXPLORE, you'll be able to see the .ttf file inside the .zip file, so what you need to do is to RIGHT CLICK on the .ttf file and choose "COPY", then go to the FONTS folder and hit CTRL and V on your keyboard to PASTE the fonts into the folder.
Step 3.5: Once you've got ALL the .ttf files in the "FONTS" folder, go to this path on your hard drive:
C:\Windows\Fonts
Step 3.5: When you're there, right click in the font window and choose PASTE.
That will paste all the fonts you selected and install them into your computer.
From there just close that window and then open up Elements and click the TYPE TOOL, then look through the list of fonts and you'll see your font listed there!
